Jessica Kingsley will publish barrister Oscar Davies’ part "legal guide, part community survival handbook". Davies is the UK’s first publicly recognised non-binary barrister and currently practises at Garden Court Chambers, specialising in employment, education, human rights, commercial and property law.
Jane Evans, senior commissioning editor, acquired World English Language rights for Queers Know Your Rights from John Ash at Creative Artists Agency. Publication is scheduled for Autumn 2027.
Queers Know Your Rights is a "timely and essential pocketbook" for LGBTQ+ people living in the UK. The publisher described the book as written in an "accessible, queer-focused voice", and demystifies legal protections and rights across areas including identity, work, education, healthcare, housing, immigration and public life. "Designed to empower readers navigating discrimination and institutional barriers, it provides practical guidance on understanding rights, asserting autonomy and enforcing legal protections."

The synopsis continues: "Blending rigorous legal clarity with everyday usability, Queers Know Your Rights offers readers a practical and empowering resource in a political climate where LGBTQ+ existence is increasingly contested and accurate legal information can be a vital form of agency and self-determination."
Evans said: "In a climate where LGBTQ+ lives are increasingly politicised and threats to LGBTQ+ rights are growing, it is vital for queer people to know their rights and how to enforce them.
"There could be no better guide than Oscar Davies. Already a trusted voice in this space, they are at the cutting edge of legal change and campaigns for LGBTQ+ rights and are known for their empowering, educational content which makes the law understandable for everyone."
