Jeffrey Archer's final novel to be published by HarperCollins
HarperCollins is set to publish the final novel from bestselling author Jeffrey Archer, 50 years after his debut. HarperCollins will publish Adam and Eve in the English language in October 2026. The publisher described the book as "a powerful story that weaves together love, betrayal and the stark realities of a world at war, this epic tale showcases Archer’s masterful storytelling at its finest".
Archer’s first novel, Not A Penny More, Not A Penny Less, was published in 1976 and Pan Macmillan will be releasing a 50th anniversary edition in August, featuring bonus content.
Archer said: "When I came across the idea for this novel a few years ago, I knew it was bigger in scope than anything I’d done before and I accepted that the research alone would be more demanding than anything I’d tackled in the past. When I finally sat down to write Adam and Eve I also realised, by the end of the first draft, that this was going to be my final novel, as at the age of 85 I could never hope to equal it again.
"As I celebrate my 50th year as a storyteller, and look to the future, I can’t quite imagine putting my pen down for good – I also love the short story form so maybe I will return to that at some point in the future – but can think of no more fitting way to bring my novel-writing career to a close. My hope is that my readers will enjoy Adam and Eve as much as I have enjoyed writing it."

Archer, whose novels include the Clifton Chronicles, the William Warwick novels and Kane and Abel, has recorded sales of more than 300 million copies. He is the only author ever to have been a number-one bestseller in fiction, short stories and non-fiction (the Prison Diaries), and is a member of the House of Lords.
