Isabel Cañas' historical horror romance goes to Solaris

Solaris has snapped up Isabel Cañas’ The Possession of Alba Díaz, a historical horror romance. 

Editor Chiara Mestieri acquired UK and British Commonwealth, excluding Canada, English-language rights from Tawanna Sullivan at Berkley. The novel will be published in October.

Mestieri said: "Alba Díaz is packed with Gothic atmosphere, thrills and indelible characters, and I can’t wait for readers of horror and romance alike to get their hands on it.”

The synopsis for The Possession of Alba Díaz reads: "When plague sweeps through Zacatecas in 1765, Alba Díaz, alongside her wealthy parents and her fiancé, Carlos, flee to his family’s isolated mine for refuge. But when Alba begins suffering from strange hallucinations and violent convulsions, she senses something lurking under her skin. It’s there she also meets Elías, her fiancé’s cousin who is haunted by his own troubled past, and the tension between them grows as they fight for Alba’s life – maybe even her soul – and become entangled with the occult, the Church, long-kept secrets, and each other."
