Hodder & Stoughton has snapped up Formula One driver Susie Wolff’s memoir, Driven.
Susannah Otter, publishing director for non-fiction at Hodder & Stoughton, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Sarah Harvey at CAA, in a highly competitive five-way auction.
"In a male-dominated sport, Susie Wolff has led the charge for women globally in motorsport throughout her career: first as a driver, then as a successful team principal in Formula E, and now as managing director of F1 Academy," the synopsis says. "In Driven, she lifts the bonnet for the first time on her extraordinary life, and the fascinating journey that brought her to where she is today."
Otter said: "F1 is the fastest growing sport globally, and there is no one better to provide us all with a front-row seat to its inner workings than the remarkable Susie Wolff. It’s been such a great pleasure working closely with her on this book and everyone at Hodder is honoured to publish such a smart, committed woman."
Wolff said: "This is the story I never thought I’d write. I grew up devouring biographies – drawn to real lives and raw truths. Now it’s my turn to share mine. Driven isn’t just a book about racing or Formula 1. It’s about how a young girl from a small town on Scotland’s west coast dared to dream – what she learned and sacrificed along the way, the highs and the heartbreaks. From the grid to the boardroom, it’s a story of grit, instinct, and refusing to quit."
