Harper NonFiction lands Sarah Vine's ‘illuminating’ How Not to be a Political Wife
Harper NonFiction has landed columnist Sarah Vine’s How Not to be A Political Wife, a "wry and cautionary tale".
Publishing director Ajda Vucicevic acquired world all-language rights from Eugenie Furniss at 42 for publication on 19th June 2025.
Vine commented: "I thought long and hard about writing this book and in the end I decided that since politics has cost me my marriage, most of my friends and almost all my sanity, I no longer have anything much to lose. So here goes. It is both thrilling and terrifying to be finally telling my side of the story."
How Not to be a Political Wife is Vine’s story who "through marriage to Michael Gove, friendships with the Camerons and a series of rather unfortunate events somehow ended up in the thick of it". The publisher called it "a tale of heartache and regret, lost friends and divided loyalties, mishaps and misunderstandings which will fascinate anyone curious about what really goes on behind the fabled black door".
Vucicevic said: "Sarah Vine is one of the most powerful voices of our times and in How Not to be a Political Wife she is at her most fierce, brilliant and simply inimitable form. This book is going to be illuminating and I cannot wait to publish her."
