Farshore to publish picture-book adaptation of Oscar-winning film Flow

Farshore has acquired Flow, a picture-book adaptation of the animated film of the same title that won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.

Harriet Rogers, art director at Farshore, acquired world rights to one book with Dream Well Studio, Sacrebleu Productions and Take Five.

Publication is scheduled for 25th September 2025. The book will “retell the key events of the movie with breathtaking illustrations”.

The picture-book adaptation includes a new text to accompany the art work taken from the film. Five co-editions have been secured ahead of the book’s publication.

Flow follows the journey of Cat, whose home is submerged by a great flood. Seeking refuge on a boat with an unlikely band of animal companions, they embark on an extraordinary adventure through abandoned cities, breathtaking landscapes and forgotten creatures of the deep. Together, they discover their capacity for courage, resilience and friendship in this magical eco-fable that has captivated audiences worldwide.

Latvian filmmaker, animator and composer, Gints Zilbalodis (pictured), who directed and co-wrote the film, said: "When I started developing this story about a cat facing its fears of water many years ago, I couldn’t have imagined such a long and exciting life it would have. I’m thrilled that the story of Flow can now also be experienced in book form."

Rogers said: “We are thrilled to bring the enchanting world of Flow to the page. This picture-book adaptation captures the magic of the film while inviting readers into a beautifully illustrated journey of friendship and adventure. It’s a perfect addition to any family’s bookshelf.”
