Ebury Spotlight to publish ‘hilarious guide to life’ by GK Barry
Ebury Spotlight has acquired It’s Giving Life, a “hilarious guide to life” by podcast host, social media and TV star GK Barry.
Publishing director Charlotte Hardman acquired world rights from Oscar Janson-Smith in an exclusive submission.
The publisher described the book as a guide in which GK Barry “isn’t an expert on anything except her own life, and all the mistakes she’s made along the way”, adding that her advice “shouldn’t be taken as gospel”.
In the book, GK Barry will discuss sexuality, body image, dating, the digital world, dealing with exes, school experiences and “how to care less about the opinions of others”.
GK Barry, real name Grace Keeling, is a social media personality, and has more than six million followers. She has appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, is a regular on Loose Women and stars in ITV’s Celebrity Sabotage.
GK Barry said: “I’m not an expert on anything except my own life and my own fuck ups — and honestly, that’s probably enough material for several books. But if reading about my disasters makes people feel better about themselves, then my work here is done.”
She added: “Despite everyone knowing I’m an open book and that I have no filter, there are some things I’ve not been ready to share, until now. I really hope by speaking about them here, people feel they can talk more openly about the hard times they’ve been through too.”
Hardman said: “Grace is so unapologetically candid and completely hilarious. Her take on life is certainly brilliantly entertaining, but it is also incredibly comforting.”
The book will publish in hardback, e-book and audiobook on 3rd September 2026.
