CG Drews' Glass Monsters snapped up by HarperVoyager in six-figure pre-empt
HarperVoyager has pre-empted three books by bestselling author CG Drews, a dystopian fantasy duology that will begin with Glass Monsters, a major launch for Magpie Books in 2028, and You Did Nothing Wrong, a domestic horror for paperback publication later in 2026.
Editorial director Charlotte Trumble acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, in a six-figure pre-empt from Witt Phillips and Kerry Nordling at Macmillan US.
Glass Monsters is the first in an “immersive and nostalgic” dystopian duology which will be published as a lead title by Magpie Books in 2028, simultaneously with Saturday Books in North America.
The blurb reads: “Valentin Fen has grown bored of petty theft down in the city’s underbelly. Society has decayed into a plutocracy where the wealthy live in golden sky-rises and engage in expensive body mods, while the lower classes are slowly drowning in the slums. Valentin misses when he was part of that world of opulence, but ever since the infamous billionaire tech family the Hellgolds destroyed his family, he’s been in hiding. And starving for revenge.

Meanwhile, You Did Nothing Wrong will be published in e-book and audio in summer 2026, with a paperback releasing in September 2026 on the Voyager list. Published in North America by Saint Martin’s Press, it is described as a “relentless and disturbing blend of haunted house horror and domestic thriller, about motherhood, family and neurodivergence”, for fans of Play Nice and Witchcraft for Wayward Girls.
