Century has acquired The Wilder Way, an "inspiring" memoir by female adventurer, Youtuber and National Geographic host Eva zu Beck.
Century’s former editorial director Zennor Compton acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from Jennifer Gates and Laura Nolan at Aevitas Creative Management. The book will be published in hardback, e-book and audio by commissioning editor Alita Butcher-Wallis for Century on 7th May 2026.
The synopsis says: "Eva had it all: a high-flying job, a picture-perfect marriage, a lifestyle that many would aspire to. Yet she couldn’t shake the feeling that she is living someone else’s dream. After hitting rock bottom, she bought a one-way ticket to Nepal and left her old life behind in search of her true path in life. Over the next few years, Eva travelled solo to some of the world’s most far-flung places – a lone horse trek in Mongolia, Covid lockdown on a desert island in Yemen and overlanding across the US in an 18-year-old truck with her beloved dog, Vilk."
The blurb adds: "The Wilder Way is an expansive and deeply personal memoir about what happens when you dare to live life on your own terms – an exhilarating, life-affirming story of adventure, courage and self-discovery."
The author said: "It’s a real and messy story of how I navigated the world alone in search of my own, authentic path – despite the fear, the relationship breakdowns and the naysayers, journeying across some of the world’s most extreme places. In a world that seems intent on locking us in gilded cages and behind screens, I want The Wilder Way to stand as an ode to freedom, a call to blaze your very own trail and a blueprint for an adventurous life."
Butcher-Wallis added: "In her memoir, Eva’s writing is as fearless and evocative as the life she leads. The Wilder Way captures both the exhilaration of a life lived off the beaten path and the quiet courage it takes to step into the unknown. Eva invites readers to share in her adventures and reflect on their own ideas of freedom and belonging. This is a book of reinvention and self-discovery that will transport readers who will be booking flights of their own before they know it."
