Allison & Busby signs Iona Hepburn's queer crime debut as part of two-book deal
Allison & Busby has signed a two-book deal for Iona Hepburn’s queer crime debut and a follow-up novel. Lesley Crooks, publishing manager at Allison & Busby, acquired world English rights in two books. Hepburn is represented by Tilda Butterworth at Rebecca Carter Literary.
Book one, Bonfire, launches the “searing” contemporary crime series in the melee of Lewes’ 5th November celebrations, when a body is discovered in a flaming barrel. The synopsis continues: “The relationship between DCI Holly Hennessy and local academic and documentary maker Kyra Ford is forged during an investigation that exposes a dark world of toxic online communities.”
Allison & Busby will publish on 22nd October 2026 in hardback and e-book, in time for Bonfire Night. A second book in the series will follow in autumn 2027.
