The Kitchen Book: Good Food for Every Day by award-winning author Ella Risbridger has been acquired by 4th Estate.
Louise Haines, publishing director, bought world rights from Daisy Parente at Lutyens & Rubinstein, with publication in hardback and e-book scheduled for 21st May 2026.
The Kitchen Book features more than 100 "completely delicious and entirely achievable recipes that you’ll want to cook again and again", the publisher says. "These are the real contenders of the dinner rotation, the things that actually work night after night."
The book’s description continues: "From no-knife potato curry, crispy leek latkes, cumin lamb ragu, turmeric satay salmon, roasted raisin rice and kimchi remoulade; to rhubarb and custard, lemon curd cake and one-bowl cannelés; to bread, butter and breakfast bars. Ella also gives many ways to make a rice bowl in under 15 minutes, wrangle a roast chicken and pull off a fail-safe cookie formula.
"These are the private recipe notebooks of a food writer just trying to get dinner on the table. What can we eat? How soon can we eat it? What would make our lives better right now? There are ideas for the week ahead, the answer for tonight’s blind panic, and recipes that will stick with you for life."
Ella Risbridger is a writer and journalist from London. She has written for the Financial Times, Guardian, Observer, Vogue and more, while her books span cookery, poetry, essay collections and picture books. Haines said: "We’re incredibly excited at 4th Estate to publish a new and beautifully written cookbook by Ella. It is strikingly original and in tune with what everyone wants to cook now, as well as helping solve the daily challenge of balancing time and money and eating well every day."
Risbridger said: "I was very sure I never wanted to write another cookbook, but this one found me. This was the cookbook I wrote for myself: every recipe I think is worth cooking, and every recipe I want to tell everyone about. This is a cookbook full of the way we eat and the way we live: delicious, flavourful, easy on the washing up and heavy on the delight.
"I wrote it because I wanted to write down all the things that made me happy to cook and to eat. Making it has been a dream. I am so happy to be working with Louise and my wonderful team to put something this gorgeous, useful and all-round nice into the world. I love this book and I love these recipes and I hope you do too."
