Ottakar's, Science Museum, London

The bookshop at the Science Museum on "Museum Mile", as London's Exhibition Road in South Kensington is affectionately known, between the Natural History Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum, is the only museum bookseller in London run independently from its host. Both the Natural History Museum and the V&A sell books as a section within their gift shop, but the Science Museum has a branch of Ottakar's, which took over from Dillons in 1998.

Spotting the bookshop is easy in the Science Museum's spacious Energy Hall near the main entrance: it occupies a site next to the huge working steam...
