Quadrille has acquired an illustrated memoir by singer-songwriter John Newman.
Editor Romilly Morgan bought world rights to Revolve, which is Newman’s debut, from literary agent Clare Hulton.
Revolve is a first-person account of Newman’s life and the process of recording his second album, also called “Revolve". The book will be released in October 2015 to coincide with the release of the album.
Beginning with his early years in North Yorkshire, Revolve follows Newman’s journey from Settle to London, offering a behind-the-scenes account of how he came to release his number one album “Tribute", the creative processes behind the "Revolve" record, and the trials and tribulations of touring the world at the age of 23. Exclusive photography captures the entire journey, alongside songs scrawled on envelopes, early gig posters and his personal drawings.
Newman said: “The main reason I have written this book is because I want people to know the process behind making my second album. I fight every day to show people what I see inside my head, my vision and what I want to create.”
Morgan said: “Creating this book with John has been as captivating and exciting as hearing his voice for the first time. Revolve acts as liner notes to his much-anticipated second album while also shedding light on John’s artistic and personal evolution.”
