Nikki Griffiths has joined Duckworth Publishers as publishing director.
Griffiths was formerly head of publishing for Hesperus Press, but left in April along with three other employees in a staff exodus from the company.
It later transpired that Hachette Book Group USA was taking legal action over the company’s alleged failure to pay royalties to one of its bestselling authors, Jonas Jonasson's The 100-Year-Old Man who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared.
Griffiths will begin her role as publishing director on 27th July and will report to m.d Peter Mayer and Tracy Carns.
Mayer, m.d and publisher of Duckworth, said: "We're extremely pleased that Nikki Griffiths is joining us. Her strong background, which includes a stint in independent publishing as publishing head of Hesperus, and her energy and impressive range of skills and interests, make her a perfect fit for eclectic, independent Duckworth."
Griffiths added: "I am delighted to be joining such an established independent with a rich heritage. Duckworth's diverse list is much to be admired and I am looking forward to working with the talented team."
