Granta managing director David Graham must know a thing or two about getting people to buy his books: in his first publishing job he once sold illustrated titles to a blind man.

He was a sales rep for Scottish-interest wholesaler Lomond Books at the time, and popped into a giftshop in the Highland village of Plockton.
