This Boy I Hardly Know
Lisa Heathfield
Sixteen-year-old Dusty is smart, talented and fiercely protective of her younger sister Poppy. The siblings have bounced around the care system together but when Dusty does something that annoys their current foster carers they are split up for the first time, and Dusty is sent to a children’s home. There she meets Cooper and together they decide to run, travelling the country in an attempt to find Poppy. Heathfield highlights the issues within the care system, including how young people are restrained when they do not co-operate, but also the courage and vulnerability of these teenagers. A modern-day Junk for our times.
