Bonnier Zaffre has acquired world rights to two books from novelist and actress Claudia Carroll.
Eleanor Dryden, publishing director at Bonnier Zaffre - who previously worked with Carroll while at HarperCollins - acquired rights from Marianne Gunn O’Connor at Marianne Gunn O’Connor Agency.
The first book, The Secrets of Primrose Square, is about a grieving mother, a widow looking for her last chance at love and an aspiring theatre director running from a scandal. Just three of the women residents of Primrose Square – each about to learn that friendship can heal even the most broken heart.
Dryden commended Carroll as "a writer of enormous talent". "Warm, energetic, insightful, she has the rare ability to make you laugh and cry on a single page, and all of her characters feel like friends you could just reach out and hug," she said. "Primrose Square is the start of something very special, and it is an honour to be taking Claudia to the next level in the UK, Ireland and around the world.”
Carroll said: "I first had the joy of meeting Eli Dryden at Avon (HarperCollins) and from day one, it was a real privilege for me to work with an editor of her calibre. So I’m in “dream come true” territory here, to be given the chance to continue our wonderful working relationship at Bonnier Zaffre. The incredible team at Bonnier Zaffre really is at the epicenter of all that’s exciting in publishing right now and it’s absolutely magic for me to be a part of that."
The Secrets of Primrose Square will publish July 2018.
