Yes, Minister 'biography' for Aurum
Aurum Press is to publish a "biography" of the satirical sitcom "Yes, Minister" by Graham McCann.
Sam Harrison at Aurum acquired world rights in the book, titled A Very Courageous Decision: The Inside Story of Yes, Minister, from Mic Cheetham of Mic Cheetham Associates.
Harrison said: “It’s a privilege to be working with Graham McCann. Few writers treat popular culture with the respect, sense of fun and elegant storytelling Graham brings to a book, and a series as witty, intelligent and important as Yes, Minister deserves a biographer of his calibre.”
The title will explore the real-world Whitehall intrigues, as well as the collaboration of writing and acting talent, behind the fondly remembered and influential 1980s television comedy following the career of a British Cabinet minister.
Entertainment historian Graham McCann has previously written accounts of the making of "Dad’s Army" and "Only Fools and Horses".
Aurum will publish A Very Courageous Decision: The Inside Story of Yes, Minister in autumn 2014.
