Hodder & Stoughton imprint Yellow Kite is to publish blogger Ella Woodward’s cookbook Deliciously Ella.
Publisher Liz Gough signed the deal with Cathryn Summerhayes at WME.
Woodward started her blog after being diagnosed with heart disorder Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS), which left her unable to get out of bed and desperate to find something that helped.
When conventional medicine failed, she turned to dieticians and found that a plant-based diet alleviated her symptoms.
Since then she has blogged about her recipes and food choices. Woodward’s blog gets 500,000 visitors a month, and she also has a recipe app.
Deliciously Ella will feature 120 recipes, including sweet potato brownies, superfood bread and banoffee pie.
Gough said: “If anyone is going to spark a vegan movement in the UK, it’s Ella, with her sumptuous dishes. Her recipes are easy to follow and taste delicious. As plant-based eating becomes more and more popular for health and ethical reasons, I think Ella is perfectly poised to become the go-to healthy eating chef in the UK.’
Woodward said she could not “wait to show the world how incredibly delicious and exciting healthy food can be”.
Yellow Kite will publish Deliciously Ella in hardback in spring 2015.
