Yellow Kite has snapped-up the debut cookbook from James and Paul Anderson, founders of popular food and slimming blog twochubbycubs.com.
Lauren Whelan, commissioning editor, acquired world rights directly from the authors after discovering their blog online and spotting them on ITV’s "This Time Next Year" where their 18 stone weight loss over 12 months was unveiled by Davina McCall. The pair have amassed a large online community with over two million blog hits already this year and a following of nearly 450,000 across their social platforms.
Described as “a fabulous and funny collection”, Twochubbycubs: The Cookbook, scheduled for January 2020, will feature 100 brand new, tasty, simple recipes for both meat-eaters and veggies. The synopsis promises “a ‘cheesy hash brown rosti’ for breakfast through to a ‘totally-not-KFC- style’ fakeaway dinner and everything in-between – with prep boxes for the weekend, plus some 'healthy-ish' indulgences for special occasions to get the taste buds watering”.
Whelan said: “James and Paul will show readers that eating well needn’t be a chore, it can be an exciting opportunity to try new things, but keep eating the foods you love. This book and the twochubbycubs have a lot to offer in the cookery space and have a tremendous future ahead. What they have achieved so far has been amazing for what started out as (and still is) their side hustle to working life. This will be a lead title for Yellow Kite and Hodder next year and we can’t wait to get cracking.”
The writers added: “After losing 265lb between us, the question we were asked over and over was ‘when would we shut up about losing weight?’ The answer? Never. Second question? ‘When will you do a cookbook?’ Well, we have holidays to pay for and so here we are with 100 never-before-seen recipes that we used during our diet – all true, honest home-cooking that helped us drop the stones whilst never feeling hungry or hard done by. Our recipes work and we’re the proof of our own(low-cal) pudding.”
