Yellow Jersey Press editorial director Tim Broughton has bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, to Peter Walker’s Bike Nation: How Cycling Can Save the World, from Rachel Mills at Furniss Lawton.
Broughton, commenting on his first acquisition since joining the imprint this summer, said: “I am delighted to welcome to Peter Walker to Yellow Jersey Press. There is nobody better positioned to review attitudes to cycling in our cities. If you’ve ever found yourself frustrated by the provision for cyclists on our roads, Bike Nation will arm you abundantly for a decade.”
Peter Walker, a political correspondent for the Guardian who set up the website’s The Bike Blog in 2009, said: “I’m hugely excited that Yellow Jersey Press is publishing the book, which distils the ideas I’ve been writing about for years. It’s not just for cyclists—it’s for anyone who’s interested in how our towns and cities can be more based around humans and less around speeding metal boxes.”
