World Literature Weekend line-up revealed

London Review Bookshop World Literature Weekend has announced its festival line-up celebrating books in translation.

Novelists Javier Cercas, Cees Nooteboom, A S Byatt, Daniel Kehlmann and Ramsey Nasr, the poet laureate of the Netherlands, are among the names headlining the annual festival, which is supported by English PEN, the British Museum and Arts Council England.

From 17-19th June, the London Review Bookshop on Bury Place in London will host events such as live translations along this year’s theme of History and Memory.

The rest of the programme will focus on the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, minority languages with a Catalan diplomat and novelist, Carlos Casajuana and the Scandinavian literary crime scene with Karin Alvtegen and Haken Nesser.

There will also be six limited-entry translation master classes (French, German, Spanish, Russian, Italian and Arabic) and social evenings with wine and music.

Other daytime events are also taking place in the British Museum’s Stevenson Room.
