Cambridge-based Woodhead Publishing has acquired the 90-strong list of Horwood Publishing, comprising titles on mathematics, engineering, biochemistry, chemistry and the environment.
Owner Martin Woodhead said: "The Horwood list fits very neatly with our existing strengths in engineering, materials science, food science and environmental technology but also brings with it a superb mathematics list of 30 titles including bestsellers such as Fundamentals of University Mathematics. We are delighted to add such a high quality list to our business."
The imprint was founded by the late Ellis Horwood in the early 1990s, following the sale of his previous company to Simon & Schuster in 1987.
Woodhead now publishes 75 new titles a year in science, technology and medicine, and is launching in early 2010 its new electronic platform Woodhead Publishing Online.
