Women's Institute cookbook to Ebury

Ebury Press has signed a cookery book from the Women's Institute, celebrating the organisation's centenary next year.

Publishing director Carey Smith bought world rights from Juliet Pickering at Blake Friedmann.

Curated by food writer Mary Gwynn, the book will trace the events of the past 100 years through the WI’s recipes and women’s social history, accompanied with photographs from the WI archive.

Smith said: "The WI has never been more popular. From Shoreditch to Sheffield, its membership has been growing steadily for years, attracting women of all ages and not just those interested in making jam or singing ‘Jerusalem’. Drawing together the best-loved recipes from members over 100 years, this wonderful cookbook is a delicious compilation and will appeal to everyone."

Ebury Press will publish in March 2015, ahead of mother's day.
