W&N has acquired a coming-of-age story by Korean author Kyung-sook Shin.
UK and Commonwealth rights in I'll Be Right There were pre-empted by W&N editorial director Arzu Tahsin for a "good five-figure sum" from Barbara Zitwer at Barbara Zitwer Agency in the US. The title will be published in September 2012.
I'll be right there is a coming-of-age story and a love story, following the lives of four friends in transition to adulthood. It is also "a poignant portrait of a bygone era and a dedication to young people everywhere who are searching for the meaning of life".
Shin's previous novel, Please Look After Mother, has sold over 1,500,000 copies in Korea, according to the publisher, and will be published on 14th April in the UK by W&N.
Knopf will publish both titles in the US.
