Winman's Tin Man to hit the big screen

Hillbilly Films has optioned Sarah Winman’s Tin Man (Tinder Press, 2017).

Film rights were acquired from Emily Hayward-Whitlock at The Artists Partnership, on behalf of Robert Caskie.

Tin Man—which was shortlisted for the 2017 Costa Novel Award—explores the relationship between two friends, Ellis and Michael. The friends have been inseparable since boyhood, but new friend Annie comes into their lives and changes everything.

Caskie commented: "Tin Man is a very special novel that has had a profound emotional impact on many people all over the world, so I am delighted that a film adaptation will bring it to an even wider audience."

Winman is the author of When God Was a Rabbit (Headline Review, 2011) and A Year of Marvellous Ways (Tinder Press, 2015). Her latest novel, Still Life, will be published by 4th Estate in summer 2021, with G P Putnam's Sons publishing in the US.

Hillbilly Films are the producers of "Pirates", the directorial debut from TV presenter Reggie Yates, as well as the film "Second Coming", which stars Idris Elba and Nadine Marshall.
