Académie du Vin Library, a press focused on publishing non-fiction about wine, will be represented and distributed globally by ACC Art Books from September.
Launched in 2019 by Steven Spurrier and author Hugh Johnson, the press has published 11 titles and has four more scheduled for 2021, with plans to publish up to six books a year.
It's autumn publications include Oz Clarke on Wine, a personal and in-depth companion to the world of wine, and On California, an anthology of some of the region’s best known wine writers - past and present - exploring the stories of some of the world's best wines. A series of softback wine classics, the Académie du Vin Library Classic Editions, continues with In Contemplation of Wine by H Warner Allen and Stay Me with Flagons by Maurice Healey. These books join titles from Spurrier and Johnson, including The Story of Wine, Michael Broadbent, Ben Howkins, Fiona Morrison MW among others.
ACC Art Books started in in 1966, and released reference works on the decorative arts, including the first price guides to antique silver and furniture, and volumes on jewellery, British art and British architecture. It represents almost 100 fine publishers from the UK, Europe, USA, China, India and Thailand. Its catalogues also feature monographs and exhibition catalogues from galleries and museums such as the Royal Academy, Ashmolean and National Galleries of Scotland.
Commenting on the move to the distributor, Hermione Ireland, m.d. of the press, said: “We were drawn to ACC’s reputation for publishing and distributing high quality books for specialist audiences and felt that their size and stature would make them the very best partners for us to work with as we start the next step of our venture: selling through book shops and other retailers. We know they will look do an excellent job selling and distributing our books, which for a company as small as we are, this was essential and very appealing.”
Matthew Freedman, sales and marketing director of ACC, said: “We are very happy to be welcoming the Académie du Vin Library to our range. ACC prides itself on publishing and distributing expert, accessible and beautiful books in all areas of art and culture, so this is a fitting partnership. We look forward to working together to grow the profile and sales of these fine books by distinguished wine authors.”
