Pop star Will Young is to join the line-up for the Wimbledon Bookfest 2012, which also includes former prime minister John Major and author Sebastian Faulks.
The festival will take place from 6th-14th October, in a specially commissioned Big Tent on Wimbledon Common as well as other venues nearby.
Others taking part include MP Jack Straw, novelists Jojo Moyes, Kate Mosse and Margaret Drabble and “Coronation Street” actress Denise Welch.
Festival director, Fiona Razvi, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome a stellar line-up of authors to Wimbledon this year. Our aim at Bookfest is to create an inclusive, community-run festival that caters not only for the diverse community of the Borough of Merton, but to Londoners far and wide looking for high-quality cultural events.
“Alongside a raft of literary giants, we have cast the net wider to include guests from the political, sporting, comedy and music arenas, as well as introducing our inaugural film strand. Coupled with our ever-popular children’s programme, which includes Michael Rosen, Morris Gleitzman and Wimbledon’s most famous residents, The Wombles, Wimbledon is now firmly on the cultural map.”
Wimbledon Bookfest was founded in 2007.
