Wiley buys up Whurr

<p>John Wiley&amp;Sons has acquired Whurr, the UK publisher of books and journals in health sciences and special education, for an undisclosed sum.

Whurr publishes for the nursing, speech and language therapy, audiology, psychology and special education communities in the UK. It produces 45 new books a year, and has a backlist of more than 400 titles including professional reference books, peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Revenue in 2004 was about &#163;1m.
