Wildfire has scooped a book based on the “endlessly amusing” and hugely popular Instagram comic Strange Planet by Nathan Pyle.
Strange Planet was launched on the platform in February 2019 and has racked up 2.4 million followers.
Now commissioning editor Shoaib Rokadiya has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights for a book from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein. The deal was done on behalf of Seth Fishman at the Gernert Company in the US, where rights were sold to William Morrow.
“Strange Planet chronicles the daily lives of highly intelligent, highly peculiar beings on a far-away planet,’ the publisher said. “Their days are filled with curious rituals that they pass on from generation to generation despite not fully grasping the logic behind them. The book takes the reader through a complete life cycle of the alien planet’s inhabitants, offering a sweet, occasionally tragic and endlessly amusing look at a world not unlike our own.”
The book will be published in November by the Headline imprint.
Pyle is the author of previous books NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette (William Morrow) and 99 Stories I Could Tell (Morrow Gift).
