A full day of publicity for Bradley Wiggins' autobiography My Time (Yellow Jersey Press) was cancelled today (8th November) after the Olympic gold medallist broke a rib and finger in a cycling accident last night (7th).
The cyclist had been scheduled to take part in interviews including BBC Radio 2's "Chris Evans Breakfast Show", as well as BBC1's "Graham Norton Show", which is pre-recorded this evening. Today is the book's publication date.
Yellow Jersey editorial director Matt Phillips said it had been a "very strange day but everyone's been very understanding". He said his expectation was that a further publicity stint would be arranged once the cyclist had fully recovered and that no bookshop events had been finalised for today.
Wiggins, who was hit by a car while cycling close to his Lancashire home, left hospital this afternoon.
Vintage Books has designed a "Get well soon, Wiggo" poster, featuring the cyclist with a plaster on one cheek.
