WH Smith Travel is supporting the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize by including the eight winning titles in its Recommends promotion.
The winners of the prize will be revealed on 19th June at the Jerwood Space in London and WH Smith Travel will give prominent space to the titles for six weeks from mid-July.
Matt Bates of WHS Travel said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize during one of our busiest periods which will enable our large number of book customers to discover some great British writing to enjoy this summer.”
E-book retailer Kobo has also agreed to host a banner on the prize on its UK website and bookseller Foyles will host a Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize Salon in the new Charing Cross Road store in September.
For the first time this year, the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize will offer £5,000 to each of the eight winning authors, making this one of the largest literary prize funds open solely to British fiction writers. The prize also revealed that 2012-winning writer Susanna Jones will be taking a one month Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize Writing Residency at the Toji Cultural Centre in South Korea in Summer 2014.
Rosa Anderson, programme manager of the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize, said: “Part of our aim with the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize is to spread the word about British writing talent internationally and to build relationships with writers in other countries. So we are pleased to be able to offer this residency to Korea to Susanna Jones. She will be a fantastic ambassador for the prize in Korea, and we’ll be excited to hear about her time in Korea.”
