Wellcome Trust Book Prize shortlist announced

Lionel Shriver, Rebecca Skloot and Tim Parks are among the authors shortlisted for this year&rsquo;s &pound;25,000 Wellcome Trust Book Prize.<br />&nbsp;<br />The six-strong list comprises Emma Henderson for <em>Grace Williams Says It Loud</em> (Sceptre) John Nichol and Tony Rennell for <em>Medic</em> (Viking); Tim Parks&#39; <em>Teach Us To Sit Still</em> (Harvill Secker); Lionel Shriver&#39;s <em>So Much for That </em>(HarperCollins); Rebecca Skloot&#39;s <em>The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks</em> (Macmillan); and <em>Angel of Death</em> by Gareth Williams (Palgrave Macmillan).<br />&nbsp;<br />Former barrister, comedy writer, presenter and chair Clive Anderson said: &ldquo;In this impressive shortlist of medical books there is plenty to impress everyone from the hyper-critical to the hypochondriac.&nbsp; These are books which engage the interest and&nbsp; inform the reader in equal measure&rdquo;.<br />&nbsp;<br />The prize, which will be announced on 9th November, awards fiction and non-fiction titles on the theme of health, wellness or medicine.
