Weidenfeld and DK scoop Aventis

<p>This year's Aventis General Prize for science books was won last night by Chris McManus for "Right Hand, Left Hand: The Origins of Asymmetry" (Weidenfeld&amp;Nicolson, &#163;20, 0297645978). The book beat Steven Pinker's "The Blank Slate", the bookmakers' favourite, at the prize ceremony at the Science Museum in London.
