UK-based YA author C J Daugherty is creating a web series based her Night School series (Atom).
The series of six short films has been written by Daugherty and filmed by Trailermade Films, who make also produce the author’s book trailers.
The “webisodes” do not follow the plot of the books, but instead focus on characters from the series. In one episode, an actress playing Katie Gilmore explains why she gave up the mean girl act. In another, an actress playing Allie talks about why she doesn't rely on men to save her any more. In a third, an actor playing Nathaniel gives an interview. A fourth is a dream sequence, where Allie gets a chance to talk to Jo.
The series will run in December on Daugherty’s YouTube channel, which has had 280,000 views so far.
There are four Night School books so far, which have sold a total of 17,092 copies through Nielsen BookScan, with the final book in the series due to be published in summer 2015.
