Tim Watson, Waterstone's divisional manager east, has announced his decision to leave the company after 21 years.
Watson started his career as a bookseller in Leicester and has since filled lots of different roles across the business, becoming divisional manager east three years ago. His next career move has not yet been decided.
His role will be filled by Jason Dunlop, who was previously divisional manager for Greater London at Body Shop. Before that he worked for Paco, Arcadia, The Gap and Marks and Spencer in various field roles as well as having experience in visual merchandising and HR.
Operations director, Alex Rayner, said: "We’re all really sad to see Tim go, his contribution to the business over the last 21 years has been considerable, I’d like to wish him luck for whatever he decides to do next. On a personal note, Tim was a tremendous support to me when I joined the business last year and has been a marvellous role model for the Waterstone’s brand."
He added that Dunlop "has a strong background in retail and I know that he’s going to be a valuable addition to our business and help us achieve our key objectives." Dunlop will join Waterstone's in December for his induction and will start his new role after a handover with Watson in January.
