Waterstones is set to open a new three storey bookshop on London’s Tottenham Court Road in October.
At 7,000 sq foot, the shop will be the largest Waterstones to open in the capital since the Oxford Street Plaza branch in 2009 and will stock the largest selection of new fiction titles in London outside of the flagship Piccadilly store.
It will also contain a bar along with a Café W.
Luke Taylor, Waterstones regional manager in London, said: “It’s always exciting to open a new shop and particularly one in an area undergoing such radical transformation as Tottenham Court Road. With former Waterstones Piccadilly manager, Zain Mahmood, leading a team of passionate booksellers, I have no doubt that this will be one of the city’s best bookshops.”
The venue will hold 25,000 titles, handpicked by commercial manager Matt Hennessey and Mahmood.
The bookshop will aim to be “accessible but authoritative”, appealing to both casual browsers and avid readers, the company said.
Waterstones is set to open more branches in London soon, The Bookseller understands.
