Waterstone's Online in doubt


There was mounting uncertainty this week over the future of Waterstone's Internet operation, Waterstone's Online, Joel Rickett writes. Staff at the site have been told to expect an announcement about its future on Friday (27th April).</p><p>

As The Bookseller went to press, Waterstone's management were discussing options at a board meeting. These are likely to include a commitment to fresh investment, a deal with an Internet bookseller similar to the alliance struck between Borders and Amazon.com, or a dramatic scaling back of activities.</p><p>
