Waterstones has temporarily closed its branch in Wandsworth, south-west London, until the summer for refurbishment.
The chain said the shop had ceased trading at the end of 23rd December and would reopen its doors again in summer 2021.
The two-floor store is based at the Southside Shopping Centre, which is still open during the pandemic but with non-essential retailers shut.
A Waterstones spokesperson said: “We are very grateful for the loyal support of our customers over the years and in the interim look forward to welcoming readers to our nearby bookshops in Putney and Clapham Junction, once Tier 4 restrictions have lifted.”
Waterstones permanently shut branches at Milton Keynes' MK Shopping Centre, Lancaster's King Street, Hull University and Essex University in 2020. Other stores, including outlets at Covent Garden and Leadenhall in central London, were temporarily shut owing to low footfall during the pandemic.
