Thriller author B P Walter, also Waterstones' social media co-ordinator, has signed a new three-book deal with HarperCollins, seeing him move from Avon to digital-first imprint One More Chapter.
Bethan Morgan, assistant editor at One More Chapter, negotiated the deal for world English language rights with Joanna Swainson at Hardman & Swainson.
The first title in the new deal, The Dinner Guest, will be a "nerve-shredding" suspense thriller that weaves a web of secrets around an opulent West London world and the dinner that ends in death. It will be published in May 2021 in all formats.
Morgan commented: "We’re overjoyed to welcome B P Walter into the OMC family after his huge success at Avon with A Version of the Truth and Hold Your Breath, the latter of which was chosen by Fern Britton for her book club. With The Dinner Guest he’s gone and done it again, crafting a breathless thriller that hooks you in from the very first line and never lets go.
"It’s a fantastically fresh take on the domestic noir genre suffused with both the classic feel of the greatest murder mysteries and the intimate suspense of the psychological thriller in one relentlessly compelling ode to the inevitability of vengeance. At OMC we know a bestseller when we see it, so take our word for it: you won’t want to miss this one."
Walter commented: "I’m thrilled to be remaining with HarperCollins for my next three books and I’m very excited to be joining the One More Chapter family. I’ve been a big fan of their titles since they began and it’s brilliant to be working with such a passionate team. I can’t wait to share these new psychological suspense thrillers with readers next year."
A Version of the Truth was published in 2019 and Hold Your Breath earlier this year.
