Waterstone buys Early Learning Centre

<p>Tim Waterstone has bought the Early Learning Centre, the educational retail chain. The &#163;62m deal was secured through Eagle Retail Investments, the vehicle set up by Waterstone and Nigel Robertson, former joint m.d. of online retailer Ocado. Eagle Retail Investment has also acquired Chelsea Stores, which owns the Daisy&amp;Tom children's retail outlets set up by Waterstone in 1997. The two businesses will be merged, but the two brands will be maintained and developed separately.
