Bookouture has signed three books in a new "wartime bakery" saga series by Amy Miller.
The series follows the fortunes of Audrey Barton and her family, working in a baker’s shop in Bournemouth during the Second World War.
Jenny Geras, publishing director at Bookouture, acquired World English rights to the three books from Veronique Baxter at David Higham Associates.
The first book in the series Heartaches and Christmas Cakes will be published in November this year, with two more to follow in 2018.
Amy Miller is a pseudonym for Amy Bratley whose three women’s fiction titles - The Girl’s Guide to Homemaking, The Saturday Supper Club and The Antenatal Group - Geras published at Pan Macmillan.
Geras said: 'I’m delighted to be working with Amy again on this brilliant new series. Amy’s writing has such warmth and heart and this series has all the perfect saga ingredients.’"
Miller said: "I've loved writing Heartaches and Christmas Cakes, creating female characters who embody some of what women were up against during the Second World War, and am extremely excited to work with Jenny again and to join Bookouture."
