David Walliams will mark World Book Day (5th March) by touring the UK’s primary schools in a helicopter.
Primary schools can compete to take part in the #WalliamsWhirlwind tour by registering on the author’s website, explaining in fifty words why they should receive a visit. The competition is now open and the deadline for entries is the 6th February.
Walliams is one of the UK’s most successful children’s authors and his fiction title Awful Auntie topped the chart last year, with print sales totalling £3.3m in the UK, according to Nielsen BookScan’s Total Consumer Market figures.
His next title is a picture book for Comic Relief. The Queen’s Orang-Utan will be published by HarperCollins Children’s Books on the 26th February, ahead of Red Nose Day on the 13th March, for £4.99. All of the profits, which will amount to at least £3 from every copy sold, according to the publisher, will go to the charity.
