David Walliams’ next picture book is called There’s a Snake in my School, set to be released on 6th October.
The author’s key children’s Christmas title features a girl called Miranda, who "loves to be different", and so introduces her classmates to her pet Penelope the snake on Bring-your-pet-to-school Day, leading to “uproarious consequences,” according to the publisher.
The new picture book, in collaboration with illustrator Tony Ross, will be published in hardback, audio download and e-book on 6th October.
Booksellers have already tipped the title for success at the tills in the lead up to Christmas, even before details of the book were finalised.
Walliams will also release a novel for older readers in November.
HarperCollins Children’s Books executive publisher Ann-Janine Murtagh said: “With this fifth collaboration David and Tony continue to build a stellar line up of picture books that make them a driving force in the picture book market. This charming and mischievous story presents their partnership at its very best. Hugely imaginative and fizzing with wit it will be a winner with their growing legion of little picture book fans and is set to be a sensational success. I'm delighted to say there is something absolutely wonderful for Walliams fans of all ages coming from David this autumn.”
Walliams added: “It was a joy working with Tony Ross on this new picture book, which I hope will amuse my young readers at bedtime.”
