Walker Books is strengthening its licensing operations in order to exploit forthcoming television deals for its properties including the Tilly and Friends series and Sam McBratney and Anita Jeram’s Guess How Much I Love You.
Walker has appointed Anna Hewitt, previously head of licensing at Coolabi, as head of licensing. There are also plans to appoint a licensing manager. Julia Posen, marketing, licensing and brand director for the company, said: “As part of our growth strategy we have shifted away from using licensing agents to managing our licenses in-house. We will also be bringing brand management back in-house.”
She added: “We are working with licensees now to develop brands like Tilly and Friends and will shortly be announcing big deals covering magazines and DVDs for this property, well in advance of its television début."
The TV adaptation of Polly Dunbar’s picturebook series is due to air in 2012 on CBeebies in a co-produced animation from JAM Media and Walker’s in-house TV production arm, Walker Productions.
