Walker acquires fourth 'Timmy Failure'

Walker Books has acquired the rights to the fourth title in Stephan Pastis’ Timmy Failure series.

Walker will publish in October simultaneously with Candlewick Press in the US and Walker Books Australia, in a deal brokered by Angharad Kowal and Cecilia de la Campa at Writers House.

In the book, as yet untitled, Timmy takes a cross-country trip with his mom, his sidekick polar bear Total, Doorman Dave and criminal mastermind Molly Moskins.

Gill Evans, fiction publisher and editorial director, said: “The fourth book in this award-winning series is laugh-out-loud funny in the irreverent way we have come to expect from Stephan Pastis, our incredible US humour import, and yet, as always, Timmy’s vulnerable side makes his readers cheer for him, even when his madcap adventures go just a little too far.”

Pastis’ first book in the Timmy Failure series, Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made, was published in 2013 and won the Best Story Book category at theBooktrust Best Book Awards in 2014. The second and third books in the series, Timmy Failure: Now Look What You’ve Done and Timmy Failure: We Meet Again, were both published in 2014, and sales of all three titles have totalled 32,585 so far in the UK, according to Nielsen BookScan.

Pastis is also the creator of Pearls Before Swine, a comic strip that appears in newspapers such as the Washington Post and the Metro.
