W H Smith pre-sells new Potter for &##163;9.99

<p>Fiona Fraser</p><p>W H Smith is taking pre-orders for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (r.r.p. &#163;16.99) at just &#163;9.99 in its high street stores, fuelling predictions that the average selling price of the book will be even lower than that of the previous title, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.</p><p>In 2003, the chain sold Order of the Phoenix for &#163;11.99, the same price as most of its main high street rivals.
