Virgin dips into loss

<p>Virgin Books has posted an operating loss of &#163;148,000 for the 15 months to end-August.

The figure was skewed by a switch in the popular non-fiction publisher's reporting period to bring it in line with the rest of the Virgin group. It compares to a profit of &#163;318,000 in the previous 12-month period--its first profit in five years. Sales were just under &#163;9m, down slightly from &#163;9.2m despite the extra three months of sales.
