Virgin Books has acquired a title by the founder of Medical Detection Dogs, in a “hotly contested auction”.
Editor Yvonne Jacob bought world English rights from Piers Blofeld at Sheil Land Associates to Daisy, Dill Woody and Me: My Life with the Cancer Detection Dogs by Dr Claire Guest.
Guest founded Medical Detection Dogs and is the world pioneer in training dogs to detect illness in humans through smell.
When Guest, a hearing dog trainer, began her experiments to work out how to train dogs to detect illness, “the scientific establishment scoffed and even she questioned her own sanity, but her persistence paid off and 15 years later, Medical Detection Dogs is now at the forefront of one of the most exciting new developments in medicine and the start of a whole new chapter in the story of our relationship with man’s best friend”.
Virgin Books will publish in July next year as a £12.99 hardback.
