Virago has signed a "funny and intimate" memoir from actress and producer Lauren Graham, star of American TV series "Gilmore Girls" and "Parenthood".
Sarah Savitt, deputy publisher at Virago, acquired UK rights to Talking As Fast As I Can from Joelle Dieu at Ballantine/Random House US.
The book will be Graham's first work of non-fiction, after her novel Someday, Someday, Maybe in 2014 that was a New York Times bestseller (Ballantine Books). It will recount Graham's experiences working on comedy-drama "Gilmore Girls", playing Lorelai Gilmore, and share stories about life, love and working in Hollywood.
Virago will publish in hardback on 29th November 2016 to coincide with Netflix’s revival of "Gilmore Girls" to be released on 25th November 2016.
Savitt called the memoir "wonderful and hilarious", saying: "Gilmore Girls' fans will be delighted to know that Graham is as charming, smart and wise on the page as she is on screen, and the book is full of behind-the-scenes stories from the show (including the new episodes) as well as candid insights into what it’s like to be a female actress and writer in Hollywood.
"I always felt 'Gilmore Girls' was a feminist show ahead of its time in its exploration of non-traditional families, female friendship, ambition and sex, so it’s exciting to be publishing Graham’s book on the Virago list."
